Join WILD and Outward Bound for a five-day canoeing and camping expedition through the stunning Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Students will paddle down the Delaware River during peak fall foliage, moving between remote campsites while learning to set up camp, prepare meals, navigate by map and compass, and travel as a team through the wilderness. Outward Bound will outfit us with canoes and most of the camping equipment, meaning minimal personal gear is required to participate. This peer leadership course is designed to challenge students while building confidence, initiative, empathy, self-reliance, and collaborative decision-making skills. Participants will spend their days canoeing through beautiful river valleys and their nights sleeping under the stars beside the river. This trip can also fulfill the Adventurous Journey requirement for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level. The trip is open to all high school students, with priority given to Duke of Edinburgh participants. Only 11 spots are available.
Participants must currently be in grades 9 to 12.
